The Patient Transporter supports hospital operations by safely escorting patients throughout the facility and assisting clinical teams as needed. This role focuses on patient movement, safety, and communication while maintaining a clean, organized care environment.

Job Role:   

  • Safely transport patients between waiting areas, exam rooms, and clinical units using proper patient identification protocols
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and clinical staff
  • Support unit flow by assisting with room readiness, stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing or clinical staff
  • Follow all safety, privacy, and infection control policies
Requirements

Successful Profiles Include:

  • Interest in healthcare or patient-facing work; prior clinical experience is a plus
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment
  • Comfort using basic technology; EMR experience is a plus
  • Ability to stand, walk, push wheelchairs/stretchers, and lift up to ~20 lbs

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, and reach in all directions
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the hospital
  • Maintain 20/40 vision corrected
  • See and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance
  • Work in a latex safe environment and work indoors
  • Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing 20 lbs. (+/-) unassisted
  • Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting
  • Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces
  • Must be comfortable in patient care settings with bodily fluids in proximity
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment for long periods of time if required, including a facial mask
  • Ability to function in a high-stress medical environment as needed
